The Beginning- Embracing Societal Stigma: Shattering the Taboo on Mental Health

Growing up in a community where mental health is stigmatized has made it challenging for me to speak openly about it.

Despite greater global awareness, I continue to struggle with conversations about mental health due to these prevailing attitudes.

physical symptoms of my anxiety

Anxiety brings about physical symptoms for me, such as clammy and trembling hands, a tight stomach, a constricted chest, and an overwhelming mind. Initially, I dismissed these signs as normal, but I’ve come to realize they may point to deeper mental well-being issues.

Societal stigma ; Mental Health Anxiety

what can cause my anxiety?

Various situations can trigger my anxiety. For example, giving presentations causes extreme stress and sleepless nights due to the fear of making mistakes. Similarly, in social settings, I carefully choose my words out of fear of saying something wrong and later feel guilty and anxious about perceived missteps.

At work, the pressure of deadlines and high expectations exacerbates my stress as I strive for perfection and become increasingly uneasy over minor errors or oversights. New environments also heighten my anxiety, leaving me on edge and disrupting my sleep as I remain vigilant for potential threats..

Mental Health Support

Realization

Thankfully, the support of incredible people motivates me to pursue personal growth and self-improvement. I now recognize that the behaviors I once considered normal are hurdles that can be overcome.

Understanding stress management and gaining mental health awareness has transformed my perspective, freeing me from constant tension and guilt.

My body doesn’t need to be constantly tense and burdened by guilt. Such a lifestyle is far from normal. I am no longer bound to be trapped by my own anxious thoughts and fears.

SUPPORT IMPACT

Recognizing the potential benefits of connecting with a community of individuals facing similar challenges, I am open to exploring this avenue as a source of support.

In this blog, I plan to share biweekly insights into the steps I am taking to alleviate my anxiety and fear, and I welcome you to join me on this journey.!.
